Four Foods on Friday #24

#1. What’s your favorite food smell?
Wow, that's hard to answer. I think any smells that remind me of my childhood.

#2. What’s your favorite kind of apple?
I like yellow apples.

#3. What veggies do you like in your salad?
lettuce, cucumber, radished, carrots

#4. Share a recipe that uses beef.

Pepper Steak

Notes: In place of the tomatoes, I sometimes use one 15 oz. can tomato sauce. It makes a lovely gravy for the rice.

1 1/2 pounds round or sirloin steak, cut in 1/8 " strips
2 tablespoons garlic salt
2 tablespoons margarine
1 cup sliced onions, with tops
2 green bell pepper, cut in strips
2 large tomatoes, diced
1 cup beef broth
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons soy sauce
3 cups hot cooked rice

Sprinkle steak with salt and pepper (and meat tenderizer); brown meat in butter. Add garlic salt. Add onions and green peppers; cook until wilted. Add tomatoes and broth. Cover and simmer on low heat about 15 minutes. Blend water with cornstarch and soy sauce. Stir into steak. Cook until thickened. Serve over hot rice.

No screaming or shouting around your place? Lucky...

I am totally going to try that orange chicken recipe - anything that will cook itself for a couple hours has got to be delicious.

I like Gravy and biscuits, too, but they're not as good up here as they are down south! Have a great weekend, and thanks for playing!

Spring in California is nice--as long as my allergies don't bother me too much.

Watermelon does sound good! I hope you have a great week, Sandy!
