Have you ever thought about having....

Lap Band surgery? I was thinking of having this done before I found out about my transplant. Now my aunt is doing it. She lives in CA. She sent me to a website that she used to find her lapband doctor . Why did no one tell me about this when I was looking? It helps you find a doctor, helps with your insurance, even aftercare. They are located in Los Angeles, Cincinatti, Houston, Tampa, and near me in Chattanooga. I wish I could have it done now. What about you? Is lapband surgery right for you?

My mom had the surgery where they actually CUT your stomach. Not just the band. She said it was the most difficult thing she's ever done. Worse than childbirth.

However it was totally worth it. She has lost over 100 pounds and now weighs less than I do! First time in my entire 30 years that my mom is giving me HER clothes. She has more energy and (I think) more confidence.

Her knees were so bad that she was walking with a cane and they told her that she was nearly diabetic. She no longer uses a cane though the damage to her knees is probably permanent so she may need surgery.

Eating is still an issue because she was an emotional obsessive eater. With both types of surgery, eventually you CAN gain the weight back. The stomach expands as time goes on. So it's not a permanent solution but if you have health issues made worse by excess weight then it is a good option to help control eating and develop good habits.
