I hear my Mom's voice
I hear my Mom's voice in almost everything I do. Isn't it funny how when we are young, we never want to listen to our mom's voice, and now that I'm older and she is gone, I would give anything to hear her voice just one more time. My mom wasn't a very loving person as far as being touchy feely huggie like me. But when she opened her mouth, she had the softest sweetest voice. I used to love to call her, because I loved how she said hello on the phone. Then she would sound so excited that I had called.
So if you have a mom, call her up and listen to how she sounds. One day you may not hear that anymore. If you no longer have a mom, close your eyes and take a moment to remember your mom's voice. Now smile!

Heads or Tails / Share a special memory
"Share a special memory" is the theme at Heads or Tails this week.
As a young girl in the 60s, I was addicted to music. I had a radio by my bed much like this one and I listened to all the pop songs of the decade all the time. But every single morning as long as I can remember, I woke up to country music blasting from the kitchen. It may be the reason I still can't stand country music today. My grandparents loved it. Anything to do with country or the Opry was great to them. I knew it was time to get up when I heard the Sick Call program come on. I thought this was the most morbid show in the history of radio. It came on then WJMW, now WKAC radio with Mary Romine and her husband. After their deaths, their daughter Jill took over and it is still on today from what I hear. (I no longer live in that state). "Sick Call" is a daily program which lists recent deaths and people in the hospital. It has been on since 1953. Right after Sick Call came Swap and shop, where locals called in selling stuff or wanting to buy stuff or to tell where their yard sales were located. Even though I hated hearing those shows, they bring back wonderful memories. The smell of bacon cooking, as my grandma cooked a full breakfast seven days a week; my grandparents voices discussing their upcoming day, and best of all, my grandma coming in to see if I was awake yet. I miss them very much. Isn't it funny how the things we hate can bring out the best memories in us?

10 on Tuesday / Superstitions
10 Superstitions, Traditions, and/or Personality Quirks1. If a black cat crosses the road in front of me, I still "X" it out.
2. Growing up, I was not allowed fish in the house (even goldfish), because a house with live fish in it is a house with no money.
3. Also, we were not allowed to play games with dice, because that was causing the family finances to be gambled away. Bullcrap. huh?
4. I still won't walk across a grave at the cemetary.
5. I do not walk under ladders.
6. Little noises make me crazy. Like a clock ticking, water dripping, stuff like that.
7. I don't like for my food to touch each other on my plate. Weird I know, but I've always been that way.
8. I am an obsessive list maker. I have a list for almost everything.
9. I do not like paper napkins. I would rather use a cloth napkin anytime.
10. If I see a picture hanging crooked, I have to straighten it. No matter where I am.
Geez, I didn't realize how weird I was until I did this, lol. I even asked hubby to help me come up with some and he thought of about 10 more. Oh well, that's who I am I guess, a weirdo!
