Getting to know me better- "M"

1. McKenzie - me

2. Mom - me again

3. Mailbox - the thing that sits outside my house and is always empty except for bills.

4. Music - always makes me smile.

5. Movies - I have been a movie buff since I was a child. My grandma owned a beauty salon downtown and a block from the theater. It babysit every Saturday for years.

6. Money - that thing I no longer have any of.

7. Magic - Life is magic; sometimes black majic, but still majic.

8. Moon - Ever danced under the moonlight? Try it. The memory is priceless.

9. Marshmallows - I must be the only American to hate marshmallows in all shapes and forms.

10. Milkshakes - Like these way too much!

11. MySpace - Started blogging there a few years ago, but it just wasn't for me. Still keep my page though to keep up with old friends and out of state family.

12. Mickey Mouse - lives where I want to go. Been to Disneyland many times but never to Disney World. Would love to go.

13. Malaysia -Want to go visit our friend Jeff who moved there.

Thursday 13 / "K"

Get to know me - "K"

1. my granddaughters - Kelsi and Kenzie

2. kitchen - used to be my favorite room in the house, now it's my least favorite.

3. keys - I just can't ever keep up with them.

4. knowledge - is power! I am not very powerful these days.

5. kettle corn = my favorite popcorn.

6. kindness - There is never a reason not to be kind. My mom always said "Be kind to your enemies and smile at them always. It makes them crazy!" and that is so true.

7. kittens - are just precious. I love kittens.

8. ketchup - Love it... Eat it on lots of things!

9. kit - I used to put together scrap booking kits and sell them on Ebay. I can no longer afford that.

10. kisses - I love hubby kisses of course, but Lily kisses are even better. She's 2.

11. knocks on my door - that means I have company. Yea!!!!

12. Kaboodle.com - could browse this site for hours!

13. Kaye = is my middle name!

Getting to know me better - The letter 'J'

1. John - my son's first name, but he goes by his middle name.

2. 4th of July - my favorite part of summer. Picnic, family, watermelon, potato salad, and Fireworks!

3. Jets - they take me to see family and to great trips with my hubby.

4. Jelly Beans - I love spicy jelly beans! Yummy

5. Jack - my favorite uncle

6. Jam - I don't like jelly, but I love jam, especially homemade blackberry jam.

7. January 1st of each year - it's a new beginning every year.

8. Junk - I seem to acquire so much junk, but I like it. I love going to yard sales and swap meets to look for more junk.

9. Jokes - Nothing better than a good joke. I especially like standup comedy. (and of course Sandee over at Comedy+.

10. Jack-O-Lanterns - Halloween! Autumn... costumes, kids, candy, fun!

11. Jerry- our best friend from Phoenix!

12. J-Lo - not crazy for her music, but love every movie she's ever been in.

13. journaling - I have kept a journal for many years, still do, and feel guilty if I miss a day!

Thursday 13 - This week is the letter 'I'

1. Internet - I spend a lot of time on the Internet. I have six blogs, a store, I do contesting daily, am now hooked on Entrecard, and chat with lots of my friends, and do memes and MySpace, Phew!

2. Insects - I am terrified of most Insects and creepy crawlies. I can deal with flys and ants (easy to get rid of) but most bugs just freak me out!

3. Independent - Up until the past year, I have always been a very independent lady. I like making my own money, and tend to be a bit of a type A personality when needed to be. Yes, ladies, sweet Sandy can be a B----h when needed, and I guarantee you I will win.

4. Income - Not having a two income household any longer is really really hurting us. I still haven't figured out how to live this way. I've never had to before. He gets paid, and after bills,and doctor co pays and gas back and forth to Atlanta to doctors every week, is killing us. Sometimes there is no money left for groceries, and it totally sucks. I went to some food banks last week, a first for me, and really felt like crap for days.

5. Inspiration - I love anything and anyone who is an inspiration to me. I have been inspired by the kindness of so many of you, and your blogs. It amazes me every day at the friendships I've made online. I need inspiration and positivity right now, and you are giving it to me in spades!

6. Ice Cream - I love ice cream and milkshakes, both very detrimental to my diet right now. My favorite is Butter Pecan. Do you have a Sonic near you? They are serving full sized milkshakes of your flavor choice every night from 7pm til midnight for 99 cents,Great deal! Try the pineapple. Yummy!

7. Irish - I am part Irish, part Scottish, and part Cherokee Indian. In other words, I am a mutt.

8. Shaved Ice - I am a sucker for shaved ice. Love the bubblegum and tutti fruiti flavors.

9. Ivory - the color of every drab wall in my apartment, Ugh!

10. i-Tunes - I love i-Tunes. Wish I had a lot of money to download whatever I wanted, but oh well, maybe one day! Did you know they offer a free singles download every week?

11. IKEA- one of my favorite 'window shopping' stores

12. IZEA- They own both SocialSpark and PeyPerPost, with who help my income, so I really like them, and they always pay on time.

13. The most Important "I" word is simple "I", or just me. Take care of your health and your body. I didn't and now I am paying for it big time. I is my new best friend, because in the end, it will just be I, no one else. Live for today, and do something every single day to make that day special for you!

Thursday 13 - The Letter "F"

1. Flip Flops - I am ashamed to tell you how many pair of flip flops I actually have, and would love to have more,

2. Family - THE most important thing in my life.

3. Fruit - I Love fruit, especially watermelon. There is nothing better to eat on a hot day than a cold piece of watermelon.

4. Fourth - of July- One of my favorite holidays... park, picnic, family, and fireworks... a perfect day!

5. Friends - I miss my friends in AZ and CA so much. I haven't made any friends here in GA yet.

6. Flower gardening - When I had my own house, I had flowers planted everywhere, mostly perennials. I miss that. I tend to kill inside plants.

7. Fishing - Hubby and I love going Fishing. There are rivers and lakes all around us.

8. Food - ok, we all know I love food. Enough said!

9. Father - My father was a #1 jerk! He was an abusive, cheating, wife beating alcoholic. I have very few good memories of my dad.

10. Face lift - Something I want and need badly. But now the liver is the only surgery I'll get to have.

11. Flying - Most of my family, with the exception of one son, hates or is scared to fly. I love it. It still amazes me that I can get from here to CA in six hours instead of driving three days.

12. Fish - I used to breed, raise, and sell albino oscars. Had 2 sixty gallon tanks. Now I don't even have an aquarium.

13. Fridays - Because it is the start of the weekend!

Thurday Thirteen- alphabet addition - D

Thursday 13 - "D" - in an effort to get to know me better....

1. I have two sons- David and Dennis, who are both my heroes.

2. Even though I am a cat person, we have a great very laidback dog named Buck.

3. Diet used to be my least favorite word. I am now looking forward to it. The new group blog 'She Who Diets' starts on March 21st. Come join us! Let's lose together.

4. Decorating is a passion of mine. When I had my own home, there was not a spot in it that didn't have my touvh on it. I miss that. I no longer have the money for decorating, but it's still my passion. I walk into anyone's house and automatically think how I would decorate it.

5. I love Dragonflies. I would like to decorate my bedroom in a dragonfly theme.

6. I do not like to wear dresses, never did, even as a child. Give me a pair of pants, a tshirt, and some flipflops and I'm happy.

7. December is my favorite month, because of Christmas, hubby's birthday, and a sence of a new beginning around the corner.

8. One thing I cannot do is Dance, and I have always wanted to. Hubby is an excellent dancer and I feel badly that I have no rhythm at all.

9. I save dimes. Now this may seem silly, and you may ask why dimes? Why not quarters or nickels? My grandmother had a 'dime jar' that was decorated by her. It actually was a big coffee can, but she always called it the dime jar, so that's what it was. She started on her birthday every year, and on her next birthday she would count the dimes, and I loved to help. You would really be surprised how many hundred dollars worth of dimes will fit in that jar. Try it!

10. I am a Daydreamer. I always was, and it is even written on one of my report cards to prove it, lol. I daydream every day still.

11. Another passion of mine that I no longer get to do is play in the dirt. I love to garden. There is nothing more refreshing to me than planting and playing in the dirt.

12. Dollars! Something I have very few of these days, but yearn for the day I'll them again.

13. Last but not least is my Daughter-in-law. I have an awesome one named Regina. She is one of my best friends. She's a good wife to my son and a great Mom to my granddaughters. I love her as I would my own daughter. Hopefully my other son's realtionship with a great girl will also give me another wonderful daughter-in-law.

Thurday Thirteen- alphabet addition - C

In order to get to know me better, we are on C this week.

"C"

1. I Collect little elephants under 4 inches tall, and handwritten recipes.

2. Camping is one of our favorite things to do. We have a nice tent but would soon love to buy a popup camper. When we go to festivals like the Renaissance fairs and big craft shows, we always camp overnight also. Plus we live in northern GA with lakes and rivers all arouns us.

3. Christmas is my favorite holiday. I plan it and shop for it all year long.

4. I have an absolute love of photography, so my Camera is a prized possession of mine.

5. I love Cowboys! There is nothing sexier than a guy in tight jeans, a button up shirt, boots and a wide buckle on a horse. Could be why I love rodeos, lol. One of the first things my hubby did when he found that out years ago was go buy him a cowboy hat. Funny but very sweet!

6. Computers! I first started using the computer in 1990 and have never stopped. I guess I'm addicted, but in a good way. I love blogging, and playing games, and could never tire of searching the web.

7. I grew up in Church and raised my children in Church. I quit going when I divorced there dad, but started again six years ago. Church is where I met my current hubby. We have not found a church home in GA yet, and I miss having a church family. It's important to me.

8. I love to Cook. I learned from my Grandma when I was just a young girl, and the kitchen is my comfort place. Great memories and most people think I'm a pretty good cook.

9. I have a thing for Clouds! They are so beautiful, even storm clouds. I am even a member of a clouds group on Flickr. Nothing gripes me more than seeing a beautiful cloud and not having my camera with me.

10. My favorite Colors are earthtones. I love greens and browns, and my entire house shoews that, as well as most of my wardrobe, lol.

11. I do NOT like the Circus. Not sure why. I've taken the kids and I went as a child, but I didn't like it. They freak me out a little bit.

12. I love Candles. I have them in every room of my house. I don't like flowery perfumey smells, but love everything else.

13. Last but never least. I love Castles. I know I was meant to have my own, but something happened. I must have gotten switched at birth with a princess or something,lol. So I try to make my home my castle, no matter where I live.

Thurday Thirteen- alphabet addition - B

"B"

1. Baby is for the new grandbaby I have coming in July.

2. One of my guilty pleasures is a long bubble Bath with candles glowing, a nice tall drink (the island kind with umbrellas on top,lol and oldies music playing).

3. My Birthday is August 12th, and why is it that no cake tastes quite as good as Birthday cake?

4. I believe in signs. Every time I visit my Mom's grave in CA, a Butterfly is ALWAYS there flying around me. I believe it's a sign.

5. I love the Beach! I've loved summertime for as long as I can remember and the beach is my favorite place to be. The beach at Oceanside, CA and Dana Point are my faves so far. My sister lives two blocks from the beach in Huntington Beach and I miss her so much.

6. I love to Bake, and to eat it, so that is a problem for my diet.

7. Books are one of my favorite things. I collect autographed books, and have almost 30 of them. When I lived in CA, it was easy to meet authors at the book stores; not so easy here in small town GA. I could spend days in a book store.

8. Hubby and I love to go bowling, or at least we did before I got sick. I'm not very good with like a 130 handicap, but he bowls around 230-240 a game. I miss Bowling.

9. I have had four Brothers. Charles was killed in an auto accident the day after he graduated high school. I was 15. Marvin was killed by a drunk driver while walking down a road in Florida. I was 19. I have a brother I've only spoken to once and never met. And then there is my baby brother Chuck, whom I adore. I was 18 when he was born! I miss you Chuck.

10. One of my most prized possesions is my Mother's Bible. She read it daily, and it has notes and underlining all in it.

11. I have been a Bride three times, but #2 did not count. He had forgot to mention he never divorced his first wife.

12. I loved the Bridget Jones movies. I've probably seen them both about fifty times now. Of course it could be because my two fave actors are in it - Hugh Grant and Colin Firth.

13. My new favorite breakfast is a strawberry banana smoothie. Here is my recipe.

Strawberry & Banana Smoothie

1/2 cup strawberries,hulled

1 banana, peeled

1/3 cup plain yogurt

1 tablespoon honey

1 cup low-fat milk

3 ice cubes

Place all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.

Thursday 13 Getting to know me better via the Thursday 13 One Letter at a Time! This week is "A".

1. Aunt .... I am Aunt Sandy to Sarah -

2. August 12 is my birthday. I am a Leo.

3. Apple pie is my favorite dessert.

4. Autumn is my favorite time of year.

5. Our Anniversary is Nov. 22nd.

6. Aging is something that I am honestly not happy about, but it's inevitable.

7. I am proud to be an American!

8. My Ancestors on my Mom's side are from Ireland and Scotland. On my Dad's side they are Cherokee Indian.

9. I've always wanted to go to Australia.

10. I live near Atlanta.

11. I would love to learn all about Aroma Therapy. It amazes me what all the different scents mean, separately and combined.

12. Even though it is no longer trendy, I say the word 'Awesome' a lot.... way too much I think.

13 Free things You can do with or for your special someone

1. Watch the sunset together.

2. Slow dance with each other.

3. Watch a movie you know they will like, even if you aren't crazy about it.

4. Take a shower or bath with them.

5. Cook together.

6. Hold hands.

7. Remember when you first fell in love? Where were you? How did you feel? Tell your partner about it. Tell them how you knew they were the one.

8. . Lips were made for kissing. So were eyes, and fingers, and cheeks, and collarbones, and hands, and ears.

9. Laugh! Have fun. Pretend you are teenagers again.

10. Act out mutual fantasies together. (Not necessarily sexual)

11. Fill there car with red baloons.... completely. Even if they fuss, they will like the surprise and will talk about it for years.

12. Give them a "shock factor"! Never sleep naked?- do it. Always sleep naked?- wear sexy lingerie. Just do something totally out of the ordinary. It does not have to be sexual.

13. The very best thing you can do for your partner is to take care of and love yourself. Get a massage. Have your nails done. Do whatever you do to fell pretty.
