Bruises again

Where do the hospitals get the people who put in IVs? I swear this hurt, and no she didn't ever find the vein. She had to get someone else to come in and do it, and theirs did not hurt at all, and I have no bruise from that one.

Some know what they are doing and some don't. It's just the way it is. Have a great evening sweetie. :)

Yikes! I often end up with bruises like this after having blood taken. However, I tend to bruise easily. I end have a flickr photo set of my bruises at http://www.flickr.com/photos/outofthepinksky/sets/72157603627864370/
Recently, I had to have a CT done of my abdomen and the woman who did my IV went through my vein so, when they did the infusion, the solution poured into my arm. It swelled up like a balloon and I ended up in the ER getting multiple shots to make the swelling go down so I didn't lose my arm. After all that, the med ctr (where I work, btw) had the nerve to send me a $100 ER bill. Ugh!

Oh, you poor dear! I hope it clears up soon. Thankfully I've never bruised really easy. But, my mom is not so lucky.

I know about these IV people! I went to the local ER a few months ago. I have a port-o-cath, so giving me an IV should be easy. By the time I was admitted to the city hospital much later in the day I had 3 IVs that were all FALLING OUT, and 5 more holes in me! Isn't putting in the IV the first thing they should know how to do?

My Gosh! What a blue mess! Reminds me of when my dear Hubs (while in the military) was learning military first aid procedures and decided to use ME as his 'victim' LOL. I swear he was using the wrong sized needle...it was HUGE and hurt like crazy. Thank goodness THOSE days are over.

That usually happens to me too, so I can sympathize. Do you have tiny veins? It happens with me because they like to shift the needle after they insert it thinking they will hit the vein.
I have surgery 6/10 so I will be a bruised mess I know.

OMG!

I was so shocked to see this photo of yours I just had to comment... My sister is a doctor in the ER and I swear if she caught any interns who would do this they'd get sacked! (or flunked)

Sorry to hear about your misfortune - you should be able to sue these people, it just sucks that some people don't pay attention to what they're doing in the medical field.
